FRENCH CLASS
We are studying Life on the Farm in French Class. Order your new book and CD with the teachers and if you already have ordered, yours should be in any day.
HALLOWEEN
Your child may dress up for our Halloween party (no scary, violent or aggressive costumes please). 3 hour children may wear their costumes to school, 7 hour and full day children need to bring costumes in a labeled bag. We will have our 3 hour and Toddler party and parade at 11:30am and our 7 hour and full day party and parade at 3pm. Parents are welcome to come in for the Halloween Parade! This will be a wonderful photo op, so check Facebook for some fun photos!
Annual Family Picnic
Once again our annual Family Picnic was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who participated in our Teacher’s Crock Pot Cook Off! Sampling the different Crock Pot dishes was so fun!
1st Place Went to the Gourmet 4 Cheese Mac and Cheese! Congratulations Ms. McGovern!!!
Everyone commented on what fun it was to watch Coco and her Hula Hoop Extravaganza! Melissa her assistant was amazing too. The fire hoops were such a hit!
GRANDPARENT’S DAY
This was very nice opportunity to be able to invite grandparents to come visit your child at school. It’s so enjoyable to see the grandparents interacting with not only their grandchildren but the other children as well. We will post some of the cute “silly” photos we took at our “Photo Booth” that day.
COOKING
Apple cutting and juicing was a popular project in Practical Life during September. Thank you to the several parents who donated apples! We read “Apples on Top” by Dr. Seuss and measured everyone in “apple” measurement. How many apples was your child?
Lunar Eclipse and Blood Moon
The Lunar eclipse and the “Blood Moon” was what everyone was talking about for the past few weeks. If you hear of other cool events like this coming up, let a teacher know so we can include it in our current events during group time.
Little Free Library
During the month of November we will be making a “Little Free Library” to put out in front of our school. Check out the website at www.Littlefreelibrary.org to see what it’s all about. Please get your child involved with the pick a book, leave a book idea! Sort through your library at home and find a book or two you would like to share.
Make sure to sign in to our web site to view the calendar and upcoming news!!
Fall Festival
On Oct. 20th Colorado Carriage and Wagons are coming to our school with their Horse drawn wagon for hayrides around the neighborhood. Please send in $3.00 for this fun event. We will have a pumpkin patch set up, photos of your child on the wagon and pumpkin muffins and apple cider for a snack. If you would like to join us come on by between 9:30 and 11:30.
Morning Fresh Milk Caps
Thank you to everyone who has brought in their Morning Fresh Dairy milk caps. We bagged up 4,000 caps and turned them in for a check amounting in $200.00!
WOW that’s a lot of milk… and we sure appreciate the donation!
Birds and Bird Feeders
During September we talked about birds and what they do in the Fall to prepare for Winter. We made bird feeders out of pinecones and encouraged the children to hang theirs in a window so they would be able to observe their new feathered friends from inside without disturbing them.
We have the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program coming for a visit in November and we will let you know when as soon as we firm up a date.
October Geography focus is on Europe. We have items and books from several countries in Europe. The Kindergarteners will be visiting Le Creperie and French Bakery this month for their ethnic Field Trip (more info on this will be posted in the Kindergarten Group on the web site) Remember parents are always welcome to come in and share photos or items from the featured continent.
Our Kindergarteners took a field trip to Denver Botanic Gardens to see the exhibit “The Nature of Horses” by Deborah Butterfield. We had a great time exploring the Gardens! Log in to the Kindergarten Group on the website for more pictures!
Staff Spot Light….
is on Mrs. Parrow this month.
Mrs. Parrow and her husband Dave live here in Ft. Collins. Mrs. Parrow graduated from CSU with a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Development and family Studies.
Here are a few of her favorite things… eating out at her favorite restaurant, Carrabba’s Italian Grill and going to the movies. Her favorite color is purple and she enjoys hiking, especially around the Steamboat area. Her favorite trip was to Hawaii on the Island of Kauai. She Co-Teaches in the Toddler room with Mrs. Heughins.
As we are coming up on cold and flu season, we are extra vigilant with the children to wash hands and are trying to keep everyone well, please remember your child must be fever free without medicine for 24 hours before returning to school.
