Holiday PartyOur “Winter Holidays Around the World” holiday party is coming up on December 8th. This is a fun family event with lots of crafts and holiday cheer! Sign your family up for either the 5-6 pm or 6-7 pm time slot so that we can be sure to have enough crafts for everyone, and remember, school will be closing early at 5 pm! Every year we try to support families in need, this year we will be supporting the Heifer International Organization, for additional information go to www.heifer.org . Donate $5 and receive a chicken or bee ornament to hang at your house to remind you that you helped a family in need . Help us give the gift of chickens to needy families around the world. Eggs are considered brain food. Studies show that choline, a nutrient found in eggs, contributes to healthy brain function and reduces birth defects. A single chicken lays an egg every 24-26 hours, providing over 200 eggs or chicks per year. In addition to providing food source for a single family, these eggs and poultry can also be taken to market and sold, raising funds for medicine, clothing and more. – Heifer.org Help us give the gift of Bees to needy families around the world. In the process of searching for nectar, bees pollinate plants. The placement of a single colony can potentially double local fruit and vegetable yields. For many farmers that receive the gift of bees, they are able to harvest honey during the non-growing season to earn extra income, producing 60 lbs or more of honey each year. Can DriveWe are still collecting cans for our annual can drive to support the House of Neighborly Service. Help us reach our goal and send in your donations. We will have the Kindergarten students drop off the donations right before the winter break. The Spotlight is on:Miss Koenig lives in Greeley with her 2 cats and her dog Cathy. She has her degree in Equine Management from Northwestern Junior College. She is wonderful with the children and has a kind heart for all animals. Although she is not too fond of the little presents Maria our barn cat leaves for her, but at least the mouse population is almost next to none (along with the bunnies, birds and snakes she has taken on). Miss Koenig also helps out in the classrooms on days she can’t take the children out to ride due to inclement weather. We all appreciate her willingness to help out! Here are a few of her favorite things…she loves to play and watch Hockey, she also enjoys knitting, spinning and reading. Her favorite color is Pink. She also enjoys sewing and designing clothes. Her favorite trip was to the Galapagos Islands. |
