Ms. McGovern AKA Mrs. Mcgovernment, Mrs. Ohguvrin, Mrs. Discovery and now Grandma, as the toddlers are currently calling her, is the Owner and Director of Discovery Montessori and has been deeply involved in working with the school for 40 years. She is proud to be celebrating Discovery Montessori’s 52nd year inspiring the love of learning. She lives in Loveland with her fiancé and enjoys being a grandma to her 4 (soon to be 5) grandchildren! She enjoys traveling and cooking and she is an avid apiarist. She is active in all of the classrooms at the school and brings a passion for learning and her years of experience to the classrooms.
Mrs. MacLir is a third generation Montessori teacher here at Discovery, she started her Montessori career at age 1 and has been involved ever since. In 2012 she completed her lead teacher training followed by her International Montessori Training in Denver, CO. Mrs. MacLir is the administrator and is involved in all of the classrooms. She is an artist who loves to draw, sew, knit, and crochet and enjoys being a mom. She lives in Loveland with her husband and their 4 (soon to be 5) children.
Mrs. Tanner is enjoying her 9th year here at Discovery and uses her 15 years of Montessori experience daily. She has completed her Early Childhood Education classes and has received her lead Montessori certificate from the North American Montessori Center. Mrs. Tanner is the Lead teacher in the south preschool room. Mrs. Tanner lives in Loveland with her husband, Josh and her sons Kenneth and Greyson. she enjoys watching her children ride their bikes and grow. Her favorite part of her job as a Montessori teacher is watching the children grow to be independent individuals.
Mrs. Heughins has been here at Discovery for 9 years. She has received her Lead certification and Montessori training from the North American Montessori Center. She is the lead teacher in our North preschool classroom. Mrs. Heughins lives in Loveland with her husband Kody. She enjoys shopping and spending time with her family and watching her nieces and nephews grow. Her favorite part about being a Montessori Lead is when the children have mastered the different lessons she has presented and experiencing the pride they feel in their accomplishments.
Mr. Neighbors graciously Joined our Montessori team in the heart of COVID when we desperately needed lead teachers to stay open. He brought with him 30+ years of teaching experience and his love of art from the St. Vrain Valley school district. He is our dedicated opening Lead teacher, he runs our garden, and supports the children’s creativity in the art room. He is a xerophile (cactus lover) and enjoys traveling, visiting art museums and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Miss. Betley is a teaching assistant in the toddler room who joined out team earlier this year. She started attending a Montessori school when she was 3 and has continued to apply the teachings of Maria Montessori to her daily life. She has always loved children and is currently in college to become a teacher. Miss Betley lives in Fort Collins with her parents, her brother, and the family’s two dogs. Outside of the classroom she enjoys archery, reading, and writing her book. Her favorite part of teaching is watching the children grow, it amazes her how much they grow and mature day to day.
